- Have the patient gently but thoroughly cleanse face with the Theraderm Cleansing Wash, rinse and pat dry.
- Using 4x4 gauze pads rolled into a cylinder. Thoroughly moisten with peel solution.(do not saturate to the point of dripping)
- The patient should be told to keep eyes closed throughout the procedure. Apply an even layer of the LA’s peel solution with a continuous level of even pressure.
- Apply the solution in a clockwise direction, staring with the forehead, when applying the first layer, leave on the forehead for 1-2minutes, and then continue around the face, finally covering the cheek bones. Then repeat layering until the desired amount of powder frosting.(maximum 4-5 layers)
- When treating Fitzpatrick Skin Type 5&6 (Asian, Afro-Caribbean) a maximum of 2 layers should be applied.
- When treating the eye area, (treat this area last.)Using a cotton bud, roll the solution under the eye, going right up to the lashes (maximum of 2 layers) this area usually frosts quickly.
- Allow each layer to dry (2-3 minutes) before determining whether to add an additional layer, depending on amount of frosting. (we recommend fanning the treated area aprox 30 seconds after application) Expect to see an even, white powdery frost; this will increase as layers of solution are added.
- An even frost, signals the final layer to use! DO NOT wait for redness to appear.
- The LA Peel is self-limiting and does not need to be neutralized.
- Apply the Theraderm OPC Gel a few minutes post peel, this may reactivate the heat (This is a normal occurrence)
- Patients may choose to apply makeup to cover any redness. A good choice is a mineral makeup or powder. Patients can resume normal social activities the same day.
- 24hr post peel, the patient can resume with the Theraderm Skin Renewal System. The patient should start to peel day 2/3. Have the patient use NuPeel Natural Peeling Gel on the peeling areas, this will remove all flaky skin edges leaving the skin smooth enough to apply makeup.
The LA peel can be safely carried out at 4 weekly intervals.
Note: - Patient should always apply a sunscreen when following this regime; we recommend a sunscreen with a SPF 30+ (Theraderm Platinum Protection Sunscreen 30+)
